Wanted to thank the Outdoor Council for bringing the Governor’s State of the State speech to my attention. This is the first time I’ve actually listened to one of these; perhaps due to my recent retirement and having the time, but more so, from the standpoint that I’m worried about Wyoming, and in particular, our wildlife and wild places. The only item I heard in reference to these attributes were the funding of the corpus of the Wildlife Trust. Basically, we want to keep our children in Wyoming but for many of us that means protecting that part of our heritage that has kept many of us in this state – that heritage to many of us relates to both our wildlife and wild places. I continue to be dismayed that this is not a priority in our state. Instead, we prioritize those many industries that threaten this heritage, including oil/gas and coal development; water projects, agriculture, etc. I guess I should know better because Wyoming has been this way forever, but isn’t it time for a change?
Thanks again for bringing the speech to my attention.
